Visions Of Chaos Tutorial 3 - Creating Movies
This tutorial gives you a brief introduction on creating movies within Visions Of Chaos. In this tutorial you will learn how to create a zoom into an Escape fractal.
Preparing to create the movie
Change to the Escape mode (Modes->Fractals->Escape). Change the image size to 320x240 (Options->Preset Image Sizes->320x240) as this will make a smaller movie and be quicker to calculate and create.
The starting point
Load the parameter file "spirals 01.ESC". Your display should look like the following.

This image will be the starting location for the movie. Select Scripts-Add current point to 2D script.
A few more movie points
Make sure you are in Single-click zoom mode and click near the center of the spiral.

Once again, select Scripts-Add current point to 2D script. You will be asked "How many steps in zoom?", accept the default of 30. This is the number of movie frames that will be created between the initial starting point and this point.
Click near the center of the spiral to zoom in further.

Once again, select Scripts-Add current point to 2D script. Accept the default of 30.
60 frames is enough for our tutorial movie.
Seeing the script
If you now select Scripts->2D Script Manager you will see the following dialog.

You can see the 3 control points for the movie and the number of steps between each control point.
Creating the movie frames
We now have the script control points created, so we can now create the individual frames. Click the Create Frames button and you will see the following dialog.

Leave all the settings at their defaults and click the Generate Frames button. You will see Visions Of Chaos start to render all the frames in between the control points.
Creating the final AVI file
Once the frames have been created, the AVI build dialog will appear. Change the target filename path to C:\ so it is easier to find when finished and click the "View AVI after build" to automatically display the AVI once it has been created.

Click the Create AVI button. You will see the AVI being created with a preview of the frames. Once it is finished you will see that Visions Of Chaos automatically loads the AVI in your default media player software and you can watch the movie.
End Of Tutorial 3
Now you know how to make movies in Visions Of Chaos. Try making a long zoom into the Mandelbrot Set.
